New motor drive system designed specifically for unit handling conveyors provides exceptional reliability, very low noise, and outstanding design flexibility to conveyor manufacturers.

The UniDrive™ motor has just one moving part, operates almost silently, and gives you unprecedented flexibility in both conveyor design and manufacturing lead time.

If you are frustrated by the reliability, noise, and manufacturing difficulties that can come with motorized conveyor rollers, the new UniDrive™ motor promises greater reliability and design freedom than you may have ever thought possible. The system is remarkably simple and cost-effective, consisting of an externally-mounted direct drive brushless DC motor, a sheave, and an electronic speed control.  It is especially well-suited for small package conveyors, where small-diameter rollers, tight roller spacing and narrow conveyor widths are required. It also provides ample torque to drive unusually long zones or inclined sections.

Extreme Reliability: 125,000 Hour Bearing Life

The new UniDrive™ system uses an extremely reliable 4⅝-inch diameter brushless DC servo-motor with an electronically controlled operating speed of just 275 rpm. It produces very high torque at low speed without using failure-prone gear reducers, linkages, or drive chains. The large motor diameter incorporates robust ball bearings that last much longer than those in typical 1.9” motorized conveyor rollers.  The net result is a 125,000 hour calculated bearing life (L10 ANSI/AFBMA Std 9-1978.)

Almost Silent Operation

The UniDrive™ motor is almost silent in operation at full power. There are no gears, drive chains or other moving parts to generate noise. It is an ideal noise control solution for larger conveyor systems with many powered sections, or for systems installed in large, already-noisy environments.

Outstanding Design Flexibility

You get complete design flexibility with the UniDrive™ system. With its single motor, two sheaves that you manufacture, and the electronic speed control, you can achieve conveyor speeds from below 30 feet per minute up to 300 feet per minute. Because the drive motor is external and mounts on the conveyor frame, you get unprecedented flexibility to design conveyors with very small-diameter rollers or unusually narrow widths. At just 1½” thick, the motor can easily mount out of the way, inside the conveyor frame.

Reliable Controller Interfaces Easily with Distributed Control Systems

The UniDrive™ motor controller is a rugged, reliable device that gives you plug-in connectability. Its closed loop system provides very precise start-up and braking.

You Control Your Manufacturing Lead Time

Because a single motor/controller system fulfills the needs of virtually any roller pitch and frame width, the UniDrive™ system frees you to design specifically for your customers’ needs. Your only time limitation is how quickly you can fabricate slave rollers and sheaves.  By contrast, if you design with conventional motorized rollers supplied by outside vendors, their lead time for unconventional widths can be long enough to prevent your company from winning the next order.

Simple to Service

If a motor ever fails, it is easy to replace because it’s mounted externally.  Simply unplug it and remove two standard mounting bolts. Only one part number needs to be stocked by you or your customer for spares and repairs.
